IMPERIAL, PA .... The 1998 season is set to roar into action Saturday, April 4th at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. The Late Models will once again headline the Saturday weekly shows, joined by the Zoresco Equipment Limited Late Models, M. Stahl E-Mods and Spectator Stocks. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7pm.
In addition to the regular four division programs, five special events are set for Miley Motorsports' 10th anniversary season at Dirt's Monster Half Mile. On Sunday, May 17th, the Hav-A-Tampa Late Model Series makes it's first appearance at PPMS for a 100-1ap, $10,000 to win show. Practice is scheduled for 2pm with time trials and racing to follow. The Hav-A-Tampa series will return for a Friday night appearance on August 14th. The All-Star Sprint cars make their annual appearance on Saturday, June 13th as part of their Western Pa. Speedweek. The S.T.A.R.S Late Models have been a fixture at PPMS and that will continue in '98 with the Penn National 100 paying $10,000 to win on Saturday, July 18th S.T.A.R.S. will also sanction the $21,000 to win 10Th annual Pittsburgher 100 the weekend of September 18th-20th.
The Jook George Memorial/Fall Classic 40 will highlight the Limited Late Model schedule August 29th. The Spectator Stocks will race for big bucks with a 20-1ap special on August 1st. The E-Mods can look forward to the Myrgo Enterprises All Star 50 on September 19th with $1,200 awaiting the winner.
Two reduced admission fan appreciation nights are set for Saturday, July 25th and Friday, September 18Th. New to the schedule this season are pair of Demolition Derbies after the races July 4th and August 22nd. The Pittsburgh Circle Track Club Advantra Senior Series will visit PPMS June 27th, August 8th, and for the Glade Neal Memorial September 5th. Neal was a long time supporter and competitor with the Senior Series who passed away over the winter at the age of 74.
Along with divisional sponsors Zoresco Equipment Company and M. Stahl Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, National City Bank returns as a sponsor along with Cameron Coca Cola, the official soft drink of PPMS.
Monarch Oil Company of Pittsburgh, the world's largest distributor of Wolfs Head Motor Oil will continue to provide a case of oil to the hard charger in every feature in each division.
Because of the many drivers moving into new divisions this season a rookie of the year award will be presented to the top rookie point finisher in all divisions.
