PITTSBURGH'S PENNSYSLVANIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

IMPERIAL, PA….Cold, rainy weather forced Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway to cancel the Saturday, April 17th racing program. Racing returns to "Dirt's Monster Half Mile" Saturday, April 24th when the Late Models will run Twin 20 Lap features each paying $1,000 to win. Regular racing for an increased purse is on tap for the Limited Late Models, M. Stahl E-Modifieds and Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks. Gates will open at 5pm with racing at 7pm.

After his opening night win, B.A. Malcuit of Strasburg, OH leads the Late Model point standings. Malcuit, who won the track title in 1997, now has 9 career Late Model victories at PPMS, all coming since 1993. Lynn Geisler is the all-time leading Late Model winner with 63. Ben Miley is second with 41. Third is Davey Johnson with 32. Defending track champion Mark Banal is now fourth with 24, and Tye Long is in fifth place on the win list with 23.

Other opening night winners: Rick Heim-Limited Late Models, Wayne Tessean-M. Stahl E-Modifieds, and Al Atallah-Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks, also lead the point standing in their respective divisions. Tessean is the defending E-Mod champ while Heim and Atallah are in search of their first track titles.
