IMPERIAL,PA….Strasburg,OH's B.A. Malcuit stormed to his second Late Model win this season Saturday at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Defending Limited Late Model champion Dave Wade of Pittsburgh scored his first win of '99. Wayne Tessean of Austintown, OH in the M. Stahl E-Modifieds, and Carnegie's Al Atallah in the Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks both won for the fourth time. Mike Mckee of Carnegie was victorious in the Amateur Stocks, while Robby Hought captured the Demolition Derby.

For the past few weeks, B.A. Malcuit has struggled after late race cautions, but that wasn't the case Saturday. After starting on the pole, Jim Zarin appeared headed for his first Late Model feature win. However, his huge lead was erased by the first caution on lap 17. When the race restarted, Malcuit, who started eighth, immediately began pressuring Zarin and took the lead completing the 22nd lap enroute to his tenth career PPMS Late Model victory. Zarin, ninth starting Lou Bradich, Mark Banal and Doug Crawford were second through fifth respectively. Jim Lepro, Ed Ferree, Mike Cecere, Bill Knepper and Rick Dawson completed the top ten. Monarch Oil Hard Charger Malcuit and Crawford won the heat races.

Dave Wade cruised to the wire-to-wire win in the Limited Late Model 20-lap feature. Jim Stephans passed Rick Heim late in the race for second. Len Dobrosielski was fourth and Monarch Oil Hard Charger Tom Schirnhofer fifth. Rounding out the top ten were: Robert Freshour, Pete Loria, Duane Popham, John Pavlick and Brandon Wearing. Heim and Wade won the preliminaries.

Larry Kugel passed D.J. Miller for the top spot on the second circuit of the M. Stahl E-Modified feature, but his lead was short lived. Wayne Tessean motored by Kugel on lap five and was never headed in taking the checkered flag. Kugel was second, Scott Gunn third, Miller fourth and Russ Matejka fifth. Scott Stiffler, Dave Groves, Bobby Bongiorni, Jeff Broniszewski and Rich Stiffler rounded out the top ten. R. Stiffler and Tessean were the heat race winners. Gunn was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger.

Al Atallah moved into the lead on lap two of the Schneider Truck Spectator Stock main event, and led comfortably to the finish. The tightly contested battle behind Atallah saw Darryl Robison finish a career best second. Pat Weldon was third, Dave Greenawald fourth and Frankie Schneider fifth. Rich Apolito, Neal Isiminger, Doug Foster, Lou Lamonde and Danny Rich completed the top ten. Rich and Charlie DiLoreto won the heat races. Monarch Oil Hard Charger Frankie Schneider and winner Al Atallah both received some bonus bucks from division sponsor Schneider Truck Inc.

Mike McKee bested Bob Siemon for the win in the new Amateur Stocks.

Robbie Hought was the Demolition Derby winner, outlasting Jim Maloy and Glenn Thomas.

This Saturday, June 26th, "RACE-O" returns along with a special for the Limited Late Models. The Late Models, M. Stahl E-Modifieds, Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks and Amateur Stocks join the card. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7pm. For more information call (724)853-RACE, or visit our home page on the Internet at www.ppms.com.
