IMPERIAL, PA The STARS racing series is ready to invade Pittsburghs Pennsylvania Motor Speedway Saturday, July 18th for the running of the fifth annual Penn National 100. $10,000 awaits the winner of the first of two appearances by the STARS at Dirts Monster Half Mile this year. The program will include time trials, heat races, the Fast Dash, "B" Main(s) and 100 lap feature for the Late Models, plus feature events only for the Zoresco Limited Late Models, M. Stahl Modifieds and Spectator Stocks.
The Penn National 100 marks the 21st STARS racing series appearance at PPMS.
Bart Hartman is the defending race winner. Rick Aukland won in 1996, Jack Boggs in 1995 and Gary Stuhler won the inaugural event in 1994. Donnie Moran has five STARS feature wins at PPMS, Boggs three, Aukland, Davey Johnson, Larry Moore and Scott Bloomquist two apiece, and current STARS points leader Steve Francis, Tim Hitt, and Hartman have one each.
Pit Gates will open at 4pm on July 18th with the grandstands open at 5pm. Time trials are set for 6:30 with racing to follow. Admission for the Penn national is $28 for Adults, $20 for students 13-16, $4 students 6-12, and under 6 are free. Pit admission is $33. STARS car entry fee is $50.00
The STARS racing series will return to PPMS September 18th-20th for the Pittsburgher 100.
