Wade, Stadelman, Anthony, Miller, Goldberg, and Mason Win at Pittsburgh on July 7, 2007.

PITTSBURGH, PA (July 7) - Imperial PA’s Dave Wade grabbed his second win of 2007 at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway in the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Late Models. Steve Baker grabbed the early lead and had pulled a ˝ lap lead by the ˝ way mark. Wade, who started on the outside front row, had drifted back to fourth at the start, worked his way past third running Jared Hawkins, and then got by second running Tom Beck. By then though Baker had built up his lead and was lapping the tail of the field. But that all changed on lap 15, when Pete Rech tagged the wall in turns one and two bring out the caution. On the restart Wade challenged Baker and got by on lap 16. Baker tried to regain the lead, but to no avail and Wade picked up the win. Baker was second, followed by Jared Miley, Brandon Burgoon, Beck, Lou Bradich, Mike Johnson (who had a brand new machine out for the first time), Jared Hawkins, Keith Barbara (driving the Koteles #64), and Keith Rodriguez. The heats fell to Jared Hawkins, who was making his first start of the season at PPMS, and Scott Gunn, who had the misfortune to blow his engine just as he crossed the start finish line.

In the Brougher’s Machine Shop Crate Late Models Leo Stadelman, Pittsburgh, PA won his second main event of 2007. Last week’s winner Pete Loria grabbed the early lead while 10th starting Stadelman and 12th starting Kyle Lukon were working their way thru the field. Stadelman got thru the field first and battled with Loria for a couple laps before taking the lead on lap 9. Lukon moved into second on lap 13, and the race was on. Lukon, looked high and low trying to find a line to pass the highflying Stadelman, and a couple late race restarts closed the field up, but Stadelman was not to be denied. It was Stadelman’s fourth career win with Lukon was a close second and Loria ending up third. Daryl Charlier put his machine in fourth followed by Dan Angelicchio, Bryant Hank, Bill Westlake, Bruce Takach, Rocky Kugel and Laura Lukon. Three heats were run with Kyle Lukon, Jason Rider and Leo Stadelman taking wins.

In the Sunoco Race Fuels Pure Stocks, Joe Anthony, Baldwin PA grabbed his third win of the season. Anthony did it the hard way, by coming from the tail twice in what was one of the best features of the season in the class. Bob Schwartzmiller was the early leader with Anthony and Jake Simmons picking there way thru the field. Nick Kocuba and A.J. Poljak also joined the hunt, as the event became a five-car battle for the lead. Anthony tagged the wall causing a flat tire while running fourth bringing out the caution. He changed the tire and got back out to catch the rear of the field. By lap 6 Jake Simmons grabbed the lead, but somewhere along the way broke a front suspension item, which caused the left front wheel to lean inward. Simmons kept on going and wrestled the car for the next 6 laps keeping the lead. On lap 12, both Anthony and Poljak got by in a three wide move. Simmons kept up his valiant effort going for another lap but spun in turns one and two on lap 13. Anthony held off a strong challenge in the late stages from Poljak, with Kocuba not far behind in third. Bill Robertson grabbed fourth with Stacie White, Aaron Jones, Schwartzmiller, Adam Chytil, Dave Slade, and Don Bauerle trailing. The heats saw Stacie White and Bill Robertson pick up victories.

The Miley Truck Rental E-Mod feature saw a wild finish; with Kevin Miller Toronto, OH take his first win of the season. Tom Martineck grabbed the early lead, with Miller taking the point on lap 3. Miller led until lap 6, when Mike Basich took over. Basich was looking like a winner until lap 11 when he slowed on the back straight and dropped out of the event. Miller was back in the lead on the restart, with another Basich, Chris challenging him. Wayne Tessean also joined the battle the last couple laps. At the finish it was Miller, Chris Basich, who just beat out Wayne Tessean by inches, J.E. Stalder, J.J. Bametzrieder, Chuck Kennedy, Daryl Charlier, Martineck, Clayton Kennedy, and Mike Basich. Daryl Charlier and Mike Basich won the heat races.

Eric Goldberg, Pittsburgh, PA won his second feature of the season in the Old Allegheny Shoppe Amateur Stocks. Goldberg grabbed the lead on the first lap and led the entire 12-lap distance. Bill Tennant chased Goldberg the entire distance followed by Terry Kerr, Davy Lee, Jason Herniak, Tony White, Rob Ward, Brian Huchko, Jarrod Weiland, and Derek Stefanick. Davey Lee and Tony White won the heats.

In the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, Kennedy Township PA’s Rich Mason came back from his flip of last week to drive Ian Tomei’s #11 machine to a win.
