IMPERIAL, PA .Doug Dodd of Cambridge, OH continued his strong showing at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway by capturing Saturday's Late Model feature. His second career win at Dirt's Monster Half Mile came less than a month after his first victory , and only a week after finishing second in the Penn National 100.
Len Dobrosielski drove to his fifth Limited Late Model victory, while Wayne Tessean, Austintown, OH - M. Stahl E-Modifieds and Al Atallah, Carnegie - Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks won for the seventh time this season. Bob Siemon of Castle Shannon was the new winner in the Amateur Stocks.
Rick Dawson set the pace early in the Late Model feature with Dodd and John Flinner not far behind. After a lap eight restart, Dodd and the fourth place car of Doug Crawford both shot by Dawson on the restart, and the battle was on. Lap after lap, Crawford hounded Dodd with Dawson, Flinner, and Davey Johnson in tow. Johnson retired with rear end problems at the halfway point moving Steve Baker to fifth. A caution on the final lap provided a shootout to the finish, and Dodd was up to the challenge. Crawford, Dawson, Flinner and Baker completed the top five. Lance Elson, B.A. Malcuit, Alex Ferree, Ricky Thomas and Jim Zarin rounded out the top ten. Malcuit, Ferree and Johnson won the heat races. Thomas was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger.
Len Dobrosielski passed Tom Schirnhofer for the lead on lap eight of the Limited Late Model feature and drove away for the convincing win. Pete Loria, who battled Schirnhofer for the lead early, claimed second. Schirnhofer, Rick Heim and Bob Damron completed the top five. Brandon Wearing, Dave Wade, George Kowatic, Chuck Moury and John Pavlick were sixth through tenth respectively. Monarch Oil Hard Charger Dobrosielski and Loria won the preliminaries.
The M. Stahl E-Modified feature saw several early wrecks shorten the field. Once the race got going, Ralph Hysong Jr. took charge before Wayne Tessean moved to the point on lap six. Tessean pulled away for his second straight win. Hysong, Rich Stiffler, Russ Matejka and Kari Petrosky rounded out the top five. Scott Gunn was sixth, D.J. Miller seventh, Bootie Petsko eighth, Jeff Broniszewski ninth and Joe Walker tenth. Tessean was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger. Russ Matejka and Larry Kugel won the heat races.
Just like Tessean, Al Atallah breezed to his second consecutive Schneider Truck Spectator Stock feature checkered flag. Charlie DiLoreto was second, Dave Greenawald third, Monarch Oil Hard Charger Rich Apolito fourth and Lou Bojarski fifth. Rounding out the top ten were: Fred Schneider, Pat Weldon, Neal Isiminger, Danny Rich and Rick Armstrong. Rich, Schneider and Apolito were the heat race winners.
Bob Siemon took the Amateur Stock win over Mike McKee, Bob Schwartzmiller, Bill Capo and Mike Mixter.
This Saturday, July 31st, the Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks will run a 20-lap Special. The Late Models, Limited Late Models, M. Stahl E-Modifieds and Amateur Stock will also be in action. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7p. For more information call (724) 853-RACE or visit our home page on the Internet at www.ppms.com.
