IMPERIAL, PA…. With lightning on the horizon, B.A. Malcuit of Strasburg, OH stormed to his third Late Model win of the season Saturday at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Al Atallah of Carnegie tied Ron O'Patchin's Spectator Stock record of eight wins in one season by capturing the Schneider Truck 20 lap Special. Wayne Tessean of Austintown, OH drove to his fourth straight M. Stahl E-Modified main event. Emsworth's Tom Schirnhofer found victory lane for the third time in the Limited Late Models, and Bill Capo of Carnegie collected his first Amateur Stock win.

After a first lap caution for Rick Dawson, the Late Model feature went 25-laps non-stop. Malcuit took the lead from the pole with Doug Crawford shadowing his every move. Further back in the pack Davey Johnson and last week's winner, Doug Dodd, were beginning to make their presence felt. Johnson moved by Lou Bradich for third on lap 16 as Malcuit and Crawford remained first and second. Dodd had moved from twelfth to fifth but could advance no further without a caution. Johnson closed quickly on Crawford over the last five circuits, but settled for third. Malcuit made the right moves through traffic and maintained a five car length advantage to the checkered flag. Crawford was the runner-up for the sccond week in a row. Bradich and Dodd completed the top five. Steve Baker, Ben Miley, Bill Knepper, Mike Cecere and Dawson rounded out the top ten. Dodd was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger. Dennis Curry and Baker won the heat races.

The Schneider Truck Spectator Stock 20 lived up to its billing. Dave Greenawald led the first lap before Rich Apolito took the upper hand. Danny Rich and Al Atallah soon began pressuring Apolito. Rich moved to the point on lap eight with Atallah following him to second. Finally with five laps to go, Atallah unseated "The Danimal" for the top spot. As the white flag waved, Rich made one last charge and passed Atallah for the lead on the outside exiting turn two. As the duo charged to the finish, Rich drifted high and brushed the wall in turn four with Atallah moving back in front for his third straight win. Rich, Apolito, Pat Weldon and Greenawald rounded out the top five. Six through ten were: Rick Armstrong, Monarch Oil Hard Charger Doug Foster, Daryl Robinson, Neal Isiminger and A.J. Poljak. Atallah and Rich captured the heat races, while the LJ's Video Dash went to Apolito.

After starting last in the 17-car field, Wayne Tessean took the lead on lap five of the caution filled M. Stahl E-Modified feature. Once in front Tessean pulled away for his fourth consecutive victory. Scott Stiffler, Russ Matejka, Jeff Haefke and D.J. Miller were second through fifth respectively. Rich Stiffler, Jeff Broniszewski, Ralph Hysong Jr., Dale Fuller and Bobby Watt completed the top ten. Monarch Oil Hard Charger Tessean and Rich Stiffler were the heat race winners.

Tom Schirnhofer overhauled Rick Heim for the lead on lap eight of the Limited Late Model feature and left no doubt in collecting the convincing win. Heim was second, Jim Stephans third, Len Dobrosielski fourth and Pete Loria fifth. Dave Wade was sixth, Brandon Wearing seventh, John Pavlick eighth, Willie White ninth and Bob Damron tenth. Wade and Stephans won the heat races, Dobrosielski came from twelfth to be the Monarch Oil Hard Charger.

Bill Capo beat Bob Schwartzmiller, Mike Mixter, Mike McKee and Cory Boyd for his first Amateur Stock victory.
