IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IMPERIAL, PA. - Jim Zarin of Coraopolis zoomed to his second Late Model win of the season Saturday night at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Kennedy Township's Tony Sinicrope also garnered his second checkered flag in the Advance Auto Parts Limited Late Models. Wayne Tessean from Austintown, OH won for the ninth time in the E-Modifieds, and clinched his fourth track title. Kennedy Township's Doug Foster became a three time winner in the Isiminger's Pennzoil Pure Stocks, while the points title went to Daryl Robison of Beaver Falls. Finally, Butch Levandosky won his second feature in the Amateur Stocks.
Zarin led the distance in the Late Model 25 lap feature, lapping all but the top 13 cars. Doug Crawford drove a steady race for second. Doug Dodd came from sixth to third, with Al Atallah fourth, and Tony Musolino fifth. Mark Banal, Michael Davis, Paul Wilmoth, Mike Johnson, and Bill Adler completed the top ten. Atallah and Johnson won the heat races. Ben Miley was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger.
Sinicrope parlayed a heat race win and straight up start into a pole starting spot in the Advance Auto Parts Limited Late Model feature. He would stay in front from start to finish with Rich Apolito second, Jesse Burroughs third, Jim Stephans fourth, and Jon Hodgkiss fifth. Bobby Castelveter, Scott Gunn, Todd Cerenzia, Kirk Young, and Jim Shahan were sixth through tenth respectively. Sinicrope and Apolito won the preliminaries. Castelveter was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger. Going into the final night of points this coming Saturday, Gunn leads Apolito by eight points.
Wayne Tessean showed that passing was no problem as he worked from twelfth to first in just five laps in the E-Modified feature. Once in front he pulled away for a convincing victory. Shawn Domhoff finished second, Dennis Neiderriter third, Chuck Kennedy fourth, and early race leader, Vince Laboon, fifth. Rounding out the top ten were: Kurt Halbedl, J.J. Bametzrieder, Mike Anderson, Bootie Petsko, and D.J. Miller. Domhoff and Tessean were the heat race winners. Tessean was also the Monarch Oil Hard Charger.
Doug Foster took advantage of his pole starting spot and drove a flawless race to capture the Isiminger's Pennzoil Pure Stock feature. A.J. Poljak was never far behind and grabbed second. Daryl Robison, Willie White, and Charlie DiLoreto (subbing for Ron O'Patchen) completed the top five. Jake Simmons was sixth, Steve Webb seventh, Craig Kamicker eighth, Larry Marks ninth, and Mike McKee tenth. White and Frankie Schneider notched the heat races. White was also the Monarch Oil Hard Charger.
While there was plenty of wrecking around him, Butch Levandosky kept his nose clean and ended up in the Amateur Stock winner's circle. Ian Tomei was a close second, Dwayne Bottorff third, Craig Fraser fourth, and Bill Robertson fifth. Sixth through tenth were: Tim Folmer, Jen Walters, Robby Torrens, Jon Everett, and Jay Adams. Torrens and Robertson won the heat races. Tomei was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger. Robertson has a 21 point lead on Tomei heading into the end of the regular season finale.
Points end in all divisions this coming Saturday, September 13th. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7pm. Coming September 18th through the 21st is the Renegade sanctioned 15th Annual "Froggy" Pittsburgher 100 weekend. For more information, call (724) 853-RACE or visit our web site at www.ppms.com
