IMPERIAL, PA. The sixth annual Western Pennsylvania All Star Sprint Speedweek comes to Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania's Motor Speedway Saturday, June 13th for their only appearance this season Also on the card will be a complete show for the Late Models with feature events only in the Zoresco Limited Late Models, M. Stahl Modifieds, and Spectator Stocks. A real action packed night of racing on Dirt's Monster Half Mile. Apollo's Ed Lynch Jr. won last year's All Star Sprint Speedweek stop at PPMS and heads the list of local talent that will try and keep the All Star's from getting their hands on the $4,000 top prize. Lynch also won the 1994 All Star Sprint Speedweek stop, making him the only multiple All Star winner at PPMS. Bobby Allen of Hanover won the inaugural Speedweek visit in 1 993. In 1995, Joey Saldana took the top prize, and Dale Blaney was victorious in 1996.
Keith Kauffman is the defending Speedweek champion. Dale Blaney won back to back Western Pennsylvania Speedweek titles in 1995 and '96, and Frankie Kerr captured the Speedweek points championship in both 1 993 and '94. This year's Speedweek point fund will top $5,000, giving the drivers and race teams extra incentive to run the entire series. The five nights of racing begins Wednesday, June 10th at Mercer Raceway Park. Then its on to Port Royal Speedway Thursday, June 11th, Lernerville will host the All Star's Friday, June 12th , Saturday's stop is at PPMS, and the series will conclude Sunday, June 14th at the Tri City Speedway.
Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $15 Students 13-16 $4 Children 6-12 and under 6 are free. Pit admissiom is $25. Gates open at 5pm, hot laps are at 6pm , with racing action at 7pm.
