Weather Trumps 47th Season Opener, Allegheny Sprint Tour Up Next!
Imperial, PA - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (PPMS) regrets to announce the cancellation of the 47th Season Opener originally scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025, due to excessive rainfall over the past 72 hours. The persistent wet conditions have made the track and facility grounds unsuitable for racing.
Fans and competitors are encouraged to mark their calendars for the following weekend, as PPMS hosts an exhilarating event on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The Allegheny Sprint Tour 305 Sprint Cars presented by Renewal by Anderson will make their highly anticipated return to Dirt's Monster Half Mile for the first time since 2017. This event marks the kickoff of their 2025 season and promises high-speed excitement for all attendees.
“As we begin our ninth season, the Allegheny Sprint Tour is really excited for the upcoming season.” stated Allegheny Sprint Tour spokesman DJ Johnson. It’s a smaller schedule, but a much more impactful one.” When asked about their return to ‘Dirt’s Monster Half Mile’, Johnson shared, “The majority of our drivers will be seeing the racetrack for the first time. I’m sure they are anticipating the speeds and hope to enjoy their thrill ride.”
Fans and spectators are familiar with seeing winged sprint cars at PPMS; typically four times a year. While the 410 Sprint Cars are known for their fast speeds, the 305 Sprint Cars have plenty to offer. “I expect this to be fairly even in terms of competition,” stated PPMS Operations Manager Tyler Harris. “I honestly think the racing will be more competitive than that of the 410’s [sprint cars]. It’s been a while since we’ve seen them and we look forward to the opportunity to see just how well they perform.”
Joining the Allegheny Sprint Tour 305 Sprint Cars on April 12 will be a full lineup of racing divisions, including the Rohrich Parts Center/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Models, Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stocks, The Auto House Hobby Stocks, and the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinders. The Kehm Oil Young Guns division will have the night off and will rejoin the card on Saturday, April 19th for the Herb Scott Memorial featuring the RUSH Late Model Touring Series. Tickets for all events are available for purchase online at ppms.com.
PPMS appreciates the continued support and understanding of our fans, drivers, and partners. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the track for an action-packed night of racing on April 12.
