Chris Schneider wins another Ed Laboon Memorial - Full Write Up Results
Imperial, PA
It was a barn burner Saturday night at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, and nobody was leaving early.
The 14th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial took center stage for the Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stocks, and the night delivered every ounce of promised drama.
Fans held their breath through a gauntlet of qualifying battles, nine edge-of-your-seat heat races, two heart-stopping B-Mains, a furious eight-lap dash, and four adrenaline-fueled feature events. But the main attraction, the epic 30-lap Ed Laboon Memorial itself, was worth the wait.
Chris Schneider (55), from Lower Burrell, made his move mid-race and never looked back, claiming another career-defining Ed Laboon Memorial victory.
Meanwhile, Brandon Burgoon (5X), from McDonald, took advantage of a late restart with eight laps to go in the 20-lap Rohrich Automotive/Chevy Performance RUSH Late Model feature, cruising to his first win of the season.
In the Auto House Hobby Stocks, Joe Brown Jr. (48), from Aliquippa, seized a last-lap opening, snatching his first victory of the year in dramatic fashion.
And to cap off the night, Bill Tennant (2), from Colliers, WV, flexed his consistency once again with another strong finish in the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinders.
38 of the best Penn Ohio Pro Stock drivers on the planet rolled into Dirt’s Monster Half Mile Saturday night with one thing on their minds—$3,517 and the bragging rights that come with hoisting the “WWF-style” championship belt at the 14th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial.
Chris Schneider (55), from Lower Burrell, has made this race his playground in years past. But last season? The crown went to his teammate, Christian Schneider (56), from Pittsburgh.
This year, Chris came out swinging, laying down quick time in qualifying and making a statement to the field that he was back with unfinished business.
From there, the drivers were split into four heat races. The top five in each would punch a ticket to the main event, while the top two advanced to the eight-lap Dash. The rest? One last shot through a pair of B-Mains, with the top three from each finalizing the 26-car grid for the 30-lap main.
Former division champ AJ Poljak (36), from Baldwin, pulled P1 in the redraw and capitalized by winning the Dash, securing the pole for the feature. Paul Davis (3), from Fowler, Ohio, lined up to his outside in second, with Christian Schneider (56) and Chris Schneider (55) making up row two.
After the traditional four-wide salute and a thunderous fireworks show, Poljak led the field to green but chaos struck with only one lap scored. Josh Seippel (84S) had mechanical issues and brought out a lap-one caution after stopping between turns three and four.
On the restart, Poljak jumped to the point. Christian Schneider slotted into second, Chris Schneider settled into third, and Tyler Dietz (17), from Saxonburg, began stalking in fourth. By lap three, the top five had formed: Poljak, Christian, Chris, Dietz, and Bobby Whitling (7W).
Poljak looked strong up front, clicking off laps and slicing through lapped traffic by lap 12. But Christian had back-to-back visions of glory and made his move to take over the top spot just past halfway.
Then came the closer.
Chris Schneider wasn’t done. With the laps winding down, he found the gear that matters most and surged to the front. It looked like the race would run green to checkers, after the lap one caution, but with four to go, Daryl Charlier (74) smacked the wall in turn four and brought out the caution.
Reset. Reload. Go time.
Chris took the inside for the restart, Christian to his outside. The teammates-in-arms, turned rivals for four laps, drag raced into turn one.
When it mattered most, Chris locked it down. He led the final circuits and proved once again why he’s one of the best to ever strap into a Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock, earning yet another Ed Laboon Memorial win.
Christian Schneider (56) finished second, Dietz (17) third, Whitling (7W) fourth, and Poljak (36) completed the top five.
Heat race winners: Chris Schneider (55), Tyler Dietz (17), Poljak (36), and Christian Schneider (56).
B-Main winners: Curt J Bish (29) and Bruce Hartzfeld (101).
The 14th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial also came loaded with cash, prizes, and hardware.
A total of 18 Rookie of the Race bonuses were handed out at $100 each.
Chris Schneider earned an extra $200 for setting fast time, while AJ Poljak pocketed $100 for the Dash win plus a Hoosier tire.
Kyle Couchenour cleaned up with a $200 Hard Charger bonus and another $100 for the Longest Tow.
Emmie Laboon received a $200 CRS Supply Hard Luck gift card.
Christian Schneider claimed the $100 Halfway Leader bonus from CRS Supply.
Rusty Wheeler scored a $100 gift card as the first car to miss the feature from a B Main, and Corey McQueen received a $50 gift card as the first car to DNS.
Joey Zambotti was awarded the $156 “Connor’s Car” Best Appearing Car honor.Chris Schneider also earned a $122 bonus for leading Lap 22.
And to cap it all off, each heat race winner took home a customized rear panel banner to commemorate the victory.
In the 20-lap Rohrich Automotive/Chevy Performance RUSH Late Model feature, Logan Zarin (33X), from Hookstown, grabbed the pole after the redraw. Brandon Burgoon (5X) lined up outside row one, with Daryl Charlier (42) and Clinton Hersch (16), from Somerset, filling out row two.
From the drop of the green, it was Zarin and Charlier trading paint up front. Lap after lap, they battled door to door until Zarin finally cleared him by lap three and started to build a rhythm.
Zarin led the charge through lap 11, but a caution on lap 12 threw the field back together and opened the door for a new challenger.
Enter: Burgoon.
On the restart, Zarin fired first, but Burgoon launched harder. He ripped the top and took the lead at the line, throwing down a statement pass that ignited the crowd.
With clean air and eight laps to go, Burgoon looked gone, but racing rarely reads the script.
A late caution with five to go brought the field to his bumper. No sweat. Burgoon nailed the restart, ran a flawless final five, and locked up his first win of the 2025 season.
Zarin (33X) crossed the line in second, Ben Easler (02) took third, Charlier (74) settled for fourth, and Tommy Schirnhofer (8S) rounded out the top five.
Heat race winners: Zach Kane (25) and Clinton Hersch (16).
Tyler Hollister (69), from Bulger, led the field to green in the 12-lap Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder feature, with Anthony Uddstrom (18), from Pittsburgh, alongside him.
But the race barely got started.
The field stacked up in turn one, bringing out the caution and forcing a full reset.
On the second attempt, Noah Bubeck (187), from Colliers, WV, powered to the early lead.
Cameron Hollister (44), from McDonald, slid into second, followed by John Gill (19G) in third.
That top three held steady until lap nine when the race flipped.
C. Hollister made his move for the lead just as Bubeck’s motor let go in a puff of smoke, bringing out another caution.
The restart came with only three laps to go.
This time, Bill Tennant (2) was in position and he didn’t miss.
Tennant took over the lead on the restart and never looked back, locking down his first Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder win of the season.
C. Hollister finished second, Uddstrom third, Gill fourth, and Gavin Kokolis (91) rounded out the top five.
Heat race winners: Bubeck and Tennant.
Last but not least, the 15-lap Auto House Hobby Stock feature brought the drama and then some.
Karlee Kovacs (221K), from Carnegie, led the field to green with Marc Corio (14), from South Fayette, on her outside. But before a single lap could be logged, a spin in turn two brought out the yellow and reset the field.
Once things got rolling, Kovacs took command early. For several laps, she and Corio were locked in a side-by-side dogfight, neither giving an inch.
On lap eight, Corio finally pulled ahead. Two laps later, the leaders caught lapped traffic, and things got messy.
Corio’s car started to fade just as Joe Brown Jr. (48) entered the picture, turning up the pressure on Kovacs.
The final lap was a thriller.
Off turn four, Brown made the move that mattered, sneaking past Kovacs to steal the win at the line.
Kovacs settled for second, Corio hung on for third, Leroy Brown (40B) finished fourth, and Adam Kostelnik (64) rounded out the top five.
The lone heat race winner? Joe Brown Jr.
