Heat Wave 25 at PPMS: Norris scorches Super Lates, Gunn grabs first RUSH Late Model win - FULL WRITE UP RESULTS FOR 8-16-25
The heat hit Dirt’s Monster Half Mile for the Heat Wave 25, headlined by the Super Late Models. Nine heat races set the table for five features.
Michael Norris (N1) from Sarver torched the Super Late Model field. He won by a huge margin.
Zach Gunn (17G) from McDonald dominated the Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Model feature. He scored his first career win in the division.
Stephen Shelpman (17P) from Pleasant Hills notched win number five of the season. He sealed it in the Auto House Hobby Stock 15-lap feature.
Chris Schneider (55) from Lower Burrell added another trophy. He took the Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock feature.
Jacob Chipps (91) from New Cumberland, West Virginia, kept the momentum rolling. He claimed the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder win while driving for Gavin Kokolis.
Only three Super Late Model dates hit PPMS this season, and Saturday was one of them. If you missed it, shame on you for six weeks.
Nine cars split into two heats, with the top three from each making the redraw. Jared Miley (10) drew the pole for the 25-lap feature.
Michael Norris (N1) started outside the front row. Alex Ferree (1C) and Logan Zarin (1Z) filled row two.
The green dropped, and Miley, Norris, and Ferree drag-raced three-wide into turn one. Norris won the dash to the line on lap one.
Clean air lit the fuse. By lap three, he had a half-straightaway lead.
By lap five, the gap stretched to a full straight. Ferree ran second, Zarin third, and Miley slipped to fourth.
Norris hit lapped traffic on lap 12. Behind him, Ferree and Zarin traded shots for second.
Zarin took the spot on lap 15. Norris kept pouring it on out front.
Lap 18 brought a caution when Miley slowed high entering turn one with trouble. The field reset for the restart.
Norris and Zarin led them back to green. Norris powered away again and led the final seven laps to the checkered.
Norris (N1) won it, with Zarin (1Z) second and Dan Angelicchio (14) third. Ferree (1C) took fourth, and Chris Schneider (55) rounded out the top five.
Heat winners were Jared Miley (10) and Michael Norris (N1).

The Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Model 20-lap feature rolled with Zach Gunn (17G) on the pole after a heat win and redraw. Brodie Oravetz (91) started outside in P2, with Philip Bubeck (4) in P3 and Tom Klein (77) in P4.
Officials waved off the first attempt when Gunn jumped before the chalk. A lap-one spin on the second try brought a caution and a full restart.
The third start stuck, and Gunn beat the field to turn one. By lap two, he owned a half-straightaway lead.
By lap five, he stretched it to a full straight with Brandon Burgoon (5X) second and Klein (77) third. By lap nine, Logan Zarin (33X) grabbed third and joined the chase.
Gunn hit lapped traffic on lap 12 and pulled even farther away. After the early caution, the race ran green to checkers.
Gunn (17G) scored his first career Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Model feature win in dominant fashion. Burgoon (5X) finished second, Zarin (33X) third, Klein (77) fourth, and Jamie Wrightsman (21J) fifth.
Heat race winners were Philip Bubeck (4) and Zach Gunn (17G).
Next up came the Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock 15-lap feature. Nick Kocuba (10) started on the pole with Chris Schneider (55) to his outside.
Kocuba grabbed the early lead with Schneider in tow. They drag raced side by side down the backstretch.
Contact between Schneider (55) and Kocuba (10) entering turn three sent Kocuba into the wall and out. The caution flew, and the field reset.
On the restart, Schneider (55) held the top spot with Tyler Schneider (155) second and Ricky Steigerwald (00) from Moon third. AJ Poljak (36) moved to third on lap three.
The rest ran green to checkers. Chris Schneider (55) bagged another Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock win.
Tyler Schneider (155) finished second, and Poljak (36) took third. Logan Koteles (64K) finished fourth, and Dale Tuche (310) completed the top five.
Heat race winners were Nick Kocuba (10) and Tyler Schneider (155).
The Auto House Hobby Stocks signed in 13 cars. After heats and the redraw, Leroy Brown (40B) from Aliquippa sat on the pole with Karlee Kovacs (221K) from Carnegie outside.
Row two put Tom Anton (64) from Jefferson Hills and Chloie Jones (76) from Wellsburg, West Virginia, in P3 and P4. Green flew and Brown took the early lead with Kovacs second, Logan Koteles (64K) third, and Stephen Shelpman (17P) already up to fourth.
By lap three, Shelpman grabbed second and set his sights on Brown. At the start of lap four, they drag-raced side by side down the frontstretch, and Shelpman took the lead.
Shelpman controlled the rest and clicked off laps to the checkered. It marked his fifth Auto House Hobby Stock feature win of the season.
Brown finished second, and Kyle Janas (88) took third. Garrett O'Patchen (25) claimed fourth, and Tom Anton (64) rounded out the top five.
Heat race winners were Stephen Shelpman (17P) and Joe Brown Sr (74).

By lap two, Chipps stretched the gap. Seibert Jr held second, and Gill ran third.
The order held at halfway as the race stayed clean. It ran green to checkers, and Chipps collected another Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder win.
Seibert Jr (777) finished second, and Tyler Hollister (69) took third. Gill (19G) crossed fourth, and Hunter Vohn (124) rounded out the top five.
Heat wins went to Cameron Hollister (44) and John Gill (19G).
