Pot of Gold Event Returns in 2025

Building on the overall success of last year’s inaugural event, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (PPMS) is excited to announce the return of the Pot of Gold event, scheduled for Saturday, March 15th. A tentative rain date of Saturday, March 22nd has also been scheduled. After an impressive turnout from both drivers and fans, the Pot of Gold event is set to kick off the 2025 racing season with even more action, offering fans another incredible day of dirt-track racing and entertainment.

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend opener will feature co-headliners: Aaron Fry’s FAST on Dirt 410 Sprint Car Series, presented by Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive, and the Super Late Models, who will run unsanctioned for this year’s show. A new addition from last year’s event will be the rapidly growing Crown Vic Northeast Series, who will race for $500 to win and $75 to start in their first ever appearance at ‘Dirt’s Monster Half Mile’ courtesy of Millerstown Pic-A-Part.

Perhaps part of the magic for this event lies within its theme. A best Irish dressed contest, Irish food, green alcohol, bagpipes, and a wheelbarrow race are a short list of the extras that come with this festive gathering. “Our goal with the Pot of Gold event is to create an unforgettable experience for our fans, whether they’re longtime racing enthusiasts or newcomers to the sport," said Tyler Harris, Operations Manager at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. "From the highly competitive racing on the speedway to the engagement in the grandstands, we want everyone there to leave with great memories, and we’re committed to making this year’s event bigger and better.”

While the “Pot of Gold 75” faced a few challenges in 2024, speedway owner Blair Cress Jr. has used these experiences to enhance preparations for a smoother and more successful event in 2025. “I think visually it was obvious to anyone there that things didn’t flow as well as they should have. Lines were long and we battled track conditions, which led to a much longer than average night at the speedway.”, stated Cress. He continued, “We took note of the major issues and have implemented plans to reduce the pain points that were experienced last year. We were able to apply several of those changes at this past Pittsburgher 100 Weekend and noticed significant improvements in our race day operations.”

Start times for this event have also shifted back to aid in operations. Pit gates will now open at 12PM with the grandstand gates opening at 2PM. The event will begin at 3PM with hot laps for all three divisions and qualifying for both the 410 Sprint Cars and Super Late Models. Opening ceremonies and racing action will shortly follow.

Tickets for this event and all others will be made available at ppms.com shortly following the release of the 2025 season schedule, which aims to be completed in the coming weeks.
