Brandon Matus Steals the Sprint Showdown as Nedrow and Zupancic Score Career Firsts - Full Write Up Results For 9-20-25
The Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive 410 Sprint Cars thundered into Dirt’s Monster Half Mile for their final appearance of 2025, headlining the Sprint Car Showdown in front of a charged-up crowd. The night stacked up with qualifying, seven heat races, six feature events, and two brand-new names breaking through to victory lane.
Brandon Matus (13) of Wampum was flawless, leading all 20 laps to capture the Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive 410 Sprint Car feature. Zach Gunn (17G) of McDonald stayed hot too, scoring his second win of the year in the Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Models.
AJ Poljak (36) of Baldwin kept his roll alive, racking up win number ten on the season in the Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stocks. Marc Corio (14) of South Fayette stole the Hobby Stock spotlight, making a late race move to seal the Auto House checkered flag.
The breakthrough moments belonged to Seth Nedrow (26) of Stahlstown, who bagged his first career PPMS win in the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinders, and Kane Zupancic (11) of Collier added his name to the list of first timers, taking the Kehm Oil Young Guns feature.
Twelve Falconi’s Automotive 410-Winged Sprint Cars lined the pits for their 2025 finale, and Carl Bowser (11) of Butler set the tone early with a blistering 15.544 in qualifying. After heats and a redraw, Brandon Matus (13) landed the pole with John Jerich (3) of Worthington alongside, while Bowser started third and Brent Matus (33) of Wampum filled out row two.
When the green flew, Brandon Matus (13) jumped to the early lead as Jerich (3) held second and Flick (2) battled inside the top four. By lap three Bowser had worked up to third, but chaos struck on lap five when Jerich tagged the wall, blew a tire, and pounded the wall in turn one. His night was done, though thankfully he walked away.
On the restart Matus held control, but Flick closed the gap and started applying pressure. A lap 14 caution for Bowser’s flat tire reset the field one last time, giving Flick his best shot.
Despite the pressure, Matus (13) never flinched, leading all 20 laps to seal the Sprint Car Showdown victory. Flick (2) crossed second, Dan Kuriger (08) third, Brent Matus (33M) fourth, and James Morris (16) rounded out the top five. Heats went to Kuriger and Jerich.
Fifteen Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Models unloaded for battle, and the redraw put Zach Gunn (17G) on the pole with Matt Benard (15), from Oakdale, starting second. Row two featured Kassidy Kamicker (72B), from Aliquippa, and Jake Gunn (14G), from McDonald, both hungry to chase the front.
At the drop of the green, Z. Gunn shot to the lead with Benard giving chase. By lap four Z. Gunn had already stretched a half-straightaway advantage, and two laps later it was a full straight as he carved through clean air.
Lapped traffic came into play by lap 12, but a caution on lap 13 for Daryl Charlier (42) bunched the field. On the restart Z. Gunn took the inside with Benard to his outside, but trouble on the front stretch forced a complete do-over.
On the second attempt Z. Gunn pulled away once more, never giving the field another opening. He led the remaining laps to lock down his second win of the season, followed by Benard (15) in second, Jake Gunn (14G) in third, Brandon Burgoon (5X) in fourth, and Cole Petrelle (84) in fifth. Heats went to Charlier (42) and Ryan Hare (29).
The Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock feature lined up with AJ Poljak (36) on the pole and Mike Strouse (66) to his outside. When the green dropped, Strouse jumped out front and set the early pace.
Poljak wasn’t going away. The two ran wheel to wheel until lap five when Poljak muscled ahead, only for Strouse to fire back as they went door-to-door again.
By lap nine Poljak had the edge for good, holding strong through the final laps to collect his tenth win of the season. Strouse crossed second in the two-car showdown, as no heats were run for the class.
The Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder 12-lapper lined up with Seth Nedrow (26) on the pole and John Gill (19G) from Burgettstown to his outside. Tyler Hollister (69), from Bulger, and Curtis Mohney (33M), from Templeton, filled out row two.
When the green waved, Nedrow jumped to the point with Gill hot on his heels. Lap after lap the two stayed locked together, Gill refusing to let the leader out of sight.
With one lap to go Gill nearly made the move, but Nedrow slammed the door and held on to score his first career PPMS Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder feature win. Gill (19G) crossed second, Mohney (33M) grabbed third, Gavin Kokolis (91) finished fourth, and Hollister (69) rounded out the top five. Nedrow also took the heat race win.
The Kehm Oil Young Guns feature lined up with Kane Zupancic (11) on the pole and Ryleigh Heasley (212) of Beaver to his outside.
Heasley jumped out front at the start, but Zupancic snatched the lead before the opening lap was complete. From there he never looked back, pacing the field flag to flag for his first career Kehm Oil Young Guns feature win.
Heasley crossed in second to round out the two-car battle. The division did not run a heat race.
The Auto House Hobby Stock 15-lapper capped off the night with Garrett O’Patchen (25) of Scott Township on the pole and Tom Anton (64) of Jefferson Hills to his outside. Row two lined up with Adam Kostelnik (50) of East McKeesport and Karlee Kovacs (221K) of Carnegie ready to pounce.
O’Patchen (25) grabbed the early lead as Kostelnik (50) slid into second, but by lap two Marc Corio (14) had already muscled his way up to third. By lap four Corio took over the runner-up spot and set his sights on O’Patchen, who was slicing through the laps and catching traffic by lap eight.
The break came on lap 10 when a spin brought out the first caution. O’Patchen chose the outside for the restart with Corio at his door, and the two went back to work.
With just two laps to go, Corio made his move, powering past O’Patchen on lap 13 to take the lead. He held strong to the checkered for the feature win. Followed by O’Patchen (25) in second, Kostelnik (50) in third, Anton (64) in fourth, and Chloie Jones (76) in fifth. Heat race victories went to Anton (64) and O’Patchen (25).
